Okay, so I caved in and made a formspring. You can ask me anything, but answers aren't guaranteed, unless y'know, you bribe me with sex and/or money; preferably the latter.

Last Update (Morgan's Meet)
Ich bin's.
[info]corrosivematter

THIS IS ONLY FOR THOSE THAT'LL BE LATE.

Okay, some last minute information that I just want to get out there so that everybody can be clear. If anybody is coming late, you want to head towards the back of the Queens Crossing building.

This is what it looks like from the front:

What you want to do, is you want to head to the back of this building. You will see a pastry shop called Paris Baguette. Pass by that and go further. There's a little cafe at the center, and you'll want to bypass that too, until you get to right side of the building in the back. There'll be an entrance there, so head inside, then BAM. You're in front of Rose House. We'll be waiting inside unless you arrive before 3:50 PM. If that is the case then just wait for us outside Rose House.

Also, forgot to mention: you'll want to bring a good amount of money for Rose House. By that I mean somewhere around $28 to $36. Though it is pricey, the food and tea are totally worth it.

Hope to see you guys there! Remember, we are meeting at 12:30 to 12:45 PM! For all those coming at the meeting time, HERE IS WHERE YOU SHOULD WAIT instead! The directions on this post are only for those who'll come late!

Morgan's Rose House Meet
Red Communism
[info]corrosivematter
Sorry for taking forever; I couldn't think of anything for the Rose House meet up. Everything that we can possibly do in NYC for lolita meets, we've pretty much done all of them. The entire meet is pretty much going to take place in Flushing, as it's the most cost effective choice. I just spoke to Morgan about it, and she agrees. Flushing boasts a bunch of little Korean boutiques that have tons of loliable clothing.

Anyways, this is the plan:

12:30 - 12:45 PM: Meet up.
12:45 - 3:50 PM: Purikura and window shopping around Flushing.
3:50 - 7:30 PM: Rose House

Date: August 28th (this Friday)
Directions: Take the 7 train all the way to Flushing, the last stop.
Meeting Location: There are five separate exits from which to come out from. Once you get off the train, don't take the exit that's right next to the subway platform. That one leads to a different location. Instead, go up the stairs along the center of the platform, come out through the turnstiles, and finally, exit from any of the four exits located within the station. You'll be at an intersection (Main Street and Roosevelt Ave.). You'll notice a Duane Reade pharmacy on one of the corners. Wait for everybody inside.

However, the other alternative is meeting at Kinokuniya and then, taking the subway to Flushing. Which would you prefer?

I'll drop this off on Morgan's journal so that she can copypaste it.

EDIT: This is part one of Morgan's long goodbye party.

[info]corrosivematter
Still working on the entry for the update to the Air & Space meet this coming Saturday. I hate having to format, photoshop, and type this ridiculous wall of text, but I'm afraid that if I don't address something, then people will forget to do/bring whatever it is that I need to specify.

Susan told me not to provide people with maps. If they are desperate enough to want to come, then they should be able to figure it out for themselves, lol. I, however, don't wanna risk giving them the benefit of the doubt. I guess I'm just paranoid like that.

Anyways, you'll see the post when it's done. Hopefully tonight. Hopefully.

THE ULTRA BELATED POST 'BOUT THE NYC MEET ON FRIDAY
Ich bin's.
[info]corrosivematter
Yes, I'm finally typing up the overdue post on the NYC meet that occurred last Friday!

Well to sum it up in a word, it was AWESOMMMMMMEEEEEE. :D

There were so many occurrences, that I don't know where to begin.
Alright, from the beginning, I guess. XD

Last Friday, I dressed up in a full shiro-lolita getup and travelled by subway to the Grand Central Terminal station, which has this HUGE aqua celestial painting on the ceiling. At first I thought we were going to gather on the lower level below the terminal, where the restaurants and cafes were, but since I couldn't find them I went back upstairs and walked beyond the ticket/information (?) booth in the center. I heard Zoe or Virginia call my name, and then I saw that a couple of girls were already there ([info]ongaku_chan and [info]sindromatic, to be exact) besides the hosts. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures, but sindromatic was wearing boystyle and ongaku_chan was wearing sweet lolita (pics coming up to an egl post near you!). After that, [info]curly_b and everybody else started arriving. Agghhhh, I am so angry at myself for not taking pictures when we were at the GC Terminal, because curly_b had this really amazing mint x black classic coordinate that was seriously out of this world!  She even found a matching mint umbrella!! How friggin' awesome is that? AHEM, but anyways....the last people to arrive were [info]communistmuffin, [info]amanikitty, and [info]snelkookpan, whom all arrived at the same time. Amber (amanikitty) actually went out of her way to meet up with snelkookpan (our import lolita from the Netherlands) at the hotel where she was staying and ESCORTED her to the GC Terminal! Amber, if you are reading this, you are completely chivalrous and honorable, and I respect you more than ever. ;_;

At around 10:50 AM, the last two girls that were supposed to come didn't arrive, so we decided to browse some of the shops that were located at the terminal while waiting for them. When we stepped into the Godiva shop, the employee wanted a picture of us! She gave us free samples of this banana and coconut truffle, which I was initially hesistant to eat. I asked if anybody else wanted it, but Virginia persuaded me to try it. I did a "now you see it, now you don't!" move, and just shoved the entire truffle into my mouth, hahaha.  After that, we headed back into the main hall with the celestial ceiling, but in the end, the two girls never showed up. (Later on we found out that one of them had thought that the meet was on Saturday, lol.)

First we headed to Sephora, but stopped at an H&M on our way. Most of us looked at the accessories only. A man wanted to take a picture of us, but the security guy wouldn't let us. >:c Even [info]yumewo, who worked at that particular H&M, said that they probably changed that rule very recently because that was not the case before. Sucks, but oh well. We trekked over to the flagship (?) Sephora shop on Fifth Avenue, where we spent a good amount of time goggling at the huge amount of makeup inside. I was talking to Charlotte (snelkookpan) about Dutch lolitas.  We ended up in a corner along with Bianca (curly_b) and Dalin (ongaku_chan). One of the employees came up to us and asked what it was that was were wearing, to which I gave him a full exposition about lolita. He responded with something along the lines of, "I like that! It's fresh and different-- I think you guys should stick to what you're doing!" And then he offered the four of us complimentary freebies as well as membership into their Beauty Insider program. ( o_o )  I guess store employees really do treat us better when we're dressed in lolita haha.  More freebies prz.

What I got:

Ren facial cleansing gel, Sephora Atomic Volume mascara, & Sephora Vanilla Cupcake bath/shower gel.

Unfortunately none of the other lolitas got freebies (sorry guys), even though we tried.  :s  The guy didn't look too happy when I started pointing him out, lol.

Afterwards we headed to Saks Fifth Avenue, an upscale department store for the affluent.  A whole crapload of Saks employees working at the makeup counters were fascinated by our outfits!  They kept stopping us at every counter or so.  We made our way to the Juicy Couture section at one of the upper floors, after being thwarted in our attempt to locate the Betsey Johnson section (they told us they didn't have one; Virginia seemed a bit crestfallen).  After the girls had a look around, Virginia gathered everybody to tell her version of what I call the "L'il Mama Trauma".
Long story short:  Virginia's hairdresser is actually a good friend of L'il Mama's.  Whenever Virginia would come in to get her hair done, her hairdresser would have conversations with Virginia about her lolita clothes.  Eventually, Virginia gave her hairdresser the links to two websites; that of Baby's and that of AP's.  A couple of months later, the L'il Mama AP incident happens.  LMAO.  Guess who's responsible?  ;P

We walked to Naniwa, the Japanese restaurant we planned to eat at for lunch, after Saks.  We had to take off our shoes before we entered the tatami room (took forever to put them back on XD).  Most of us got Tempura.  I couldn't finish it because the tempura batter was too thick.  You know the feeling when you have too much of something and that makes you want to puke?  That was how it was.  D:
Shipchan had to leave for work after Naniwa.

From left to right: ongaku_chan, curly_b, snelkookpan, sindromatic, amanikitty (flashing her monies-- CAN I HAS SOME?  8D), and burikkoxp.

Mmkay!  So after lunch we headed to the Japanese sweets shop Minamoto Kitchoan.  Everything was friggin' expensive; oy, one measly jelly treat costs anywhere from $2 to $4.  We also ventured into La Maison, a French pastries shop, as it was located conveniently in the Rockefeller Center area.  When I saw all the delicious sweets in that shop, I started salivating.  There were four flavors of macarons-- I settled on one of each.  On our way to Kinokuniya, we got stopped by a lady who was smoking on the other side of the Simon & Schulster publishing house building.  She gasped and said, "MY GIRLS!  Oh my gawd, are you just meeting up or something?"  Turns out she's a high-ranked Viz editor/staff and is in charge of the magazine Shoujo Beat, etc.  ( O_O )  She wanted a picture of our group so she could showcase it in Shoujo Beat!!  LOL, talk about being in the right place at the right time!  She took a pic of us using Zoe's camera and gave Zoe her email address.  Zoe said she would email her the entire collection of meet-up pics!  XD
Damn, I'm pretty excited!

Kinokuniya was our next and final destination.  We ended up spending a good hour or two browsing the place.  Most of us congregated on the basement floor, where the children's section was.  Virginia found these Pokemon picture books with Pokemon-"inspired" vocabulary, i.e. "pokeplay".  XD  It was hilarious; Virginia actually read aloud some of those books.

When we left Kinokuniya, Amber said she had to take Charlotte back to her hotel.  :c  Aww guys, you should have stayed!  One of the best things happened last.  Y'see, while lounging around in Bryant Park (which is across from Kinokuniya) eating the sweets we bought, a couple approached us.  The husband and wife duo turned out to be professional photographers.  They were interested in taking portraits of us!  She also got pics of us while we were riding the carousel.  She gave each of us her card and told us to email her later to get our shots.  :D  Her website:  ChristinaPaige.com
EDIT: During the time the pair were taking pictures of us, a Floridian lady came over and asked what it was that we were wearing.  She said she wanted to get a picture of us, then proceeded to tell us about how she brought her Sugar Glider along and asked whether we wanted to see it.  Bianca knew what she was talking about, so she said yes!  The woman reached into her pouch, and took out this little squirrel-like creature.  It was so damn cute.  ;_;  By this time, the other people in the vicinity came over and started taking pictures.  That little marsupial thing was crawling over everybody, either on an arm or on *ahem* a breast.  XD  Eventually the woman put the Sugar Glider back into its pouch, where it went back to sleep.  Also, a little girl came up to us and asked about the fashion, which we gladly explained to her.  Her sister then said something, and she retorted, "It's not a costume!"  XDDD

Wewt!  Almost done.

At the end we weren't able to visit Takashimaya and have tea, as our hosts had to leave, but overall it was one heck of a meet-up!  Aya ([info]burikkoxp) wanted to watch The Dark Knight, which she had asked earlier if anybody wanted to see it with her.  [info]yumewo and I jumped on the bandwagon.  Personally, I was curious to see what the hype was all about.  We treaded over to one of the movie theatres in Times Square, but every show except the one at 1:20 AM was sold out.  Obviously we couldn't stay that late, so each of us started calling family members to see if they could check available times at different theatres in Manhattan.  Lol, we sure wished we had an iPhone at that moment.....

In the end [info]yumewo had to leave since she lived in New Jersey, and Aya couldn't get permission from her parents to watch said movie in Queens, lol.  So we went our separate ways, and now I'm here typing up this silly but friggin' long entry.

Zoe has the rest of the pics.  She's gonna post them up eventually, and then you guys can see everything.

Man....  I should seriously plan a meet-up of my own.  Actually, I have one in mind already for Winter Break '08.
So, my dear friends living in the Tristate Area, would you be able to attend a meet-up in December?  If so, please let me know when you would be available; if not now, then in November.  LOL.
Yesss, early feelers are always a plus!  Space themed, btw.

Let me be more specific-- a meet-up to the U.S.S. Intrepid Air & Space Museum, followed by something in between, and then finally, lunch and/or dinner at Mars 2112.  Sound good, Y/Y?

GRRR!

Okay dammit, Firefox 3 kills friggin' Gmail.  WTH?!  I've been trying to sign onto gmail for over an hour, but nothing's happening.  I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Gmail, but apparently that didn't help.  The only way I can even log onto the Gmail website is to use the damn Winamp browser!  For some reason Gmail isn't working on IE either.  This is frustrating me to no end.  Googled up the problem, but no real solutions as of yet.  Does anyone have any pointers?

On another note, I received my Celga parcel yesterday.  lol, I thought it would never arrive.  I've lost interest in most of the items already, so yippee, more moneh for me!  I am, however, quite pleased with the Jane Marple ring, as well as the Alice & Bambi skirt (even though it seems that the white print has slightly browned).  The lace on my black x white headbow looks kind of shrivelled up...

Michelle's bangle arrived as well.  Man, that was LIGHTING FAST!  xD  My wrists are kind of small for it though.  :S  The shape is also way too ovallish for a normal wrist.  Whatever, I'll just wear it close to my elbow.

Hmm...  My iTunes was also glitching on me, so I uninstalled that.  First I need to sort my music folders before reinstalling it, because I don't know how to refresh the music collection....

Mmm.....

...And Suddenly
Pearls Before Swine
[info]corrosivematter
Suddenly, I have this urge to take a trip to Europe. But then I realized, I don't really know any European languages. Well, German sort of, but I suck at it. D: Ich bin Amerikanerin mit einem chinesischen Gesicht. Ehh... Something like that.

I remember one day back in high school when I took German. That day, we had a review of German words for things around the room. I was daydreaming when my German teacher (he's not really German, but an American of Hungarian descent), Mr. Goodman, called on me. I forgot the question, but I remember just sitting there staring at the pages of my textbook blankly, before a friend sitting next to me whispered, "Das Zimmer ist kaputt." And that is what I repeated. Mr. Goodman threw me a strange look and asked, "The room is broken?" Then I turned around and bitchslapped my friend. "YOUR BRAIN IST KAPUTT!!" I shouted. Well, no I didn't, but I was thinking that. Anyway, I love German, Germany, and the German peoples. I love the German language, even though others think it is "harsh"; on the contrary, it is actually a very beautiful language when spoken by the natives.

Wow, I went off-topic there....

You see, I need to travel to Germany, France, England, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, Ukraine, Russia, and every-other-country-in-between. I need to do this for my story. I need to visit an "école élémentaire" and lycée in France, especially. *headdesk* I'm making this difficult for myself, but I must have every damn fact straight. I must keep the settings as close to reality as possible. HOW DO I REECH DEES REEDERS?!

And now switching the topic to lolita. I want these shoes in white, and I want them badddd (or badly, in grammatically correct English). I also want a white parasol and these IW socks in black.

Not Going To The Lolita Day Meet

Ugh, weather blazing today, mother uncooperative, no back-up outfit suited for the weather (one of the biggest factors), and woke up a bit late.
Also, taking forever to mask these red scabs; it's just not working out for me.

Pearls Before Swine
[info]corrosivematter
Of all the luck in the world, my mom brings back a slip with a link to a government website for high school and college students to apply for a job. The people who gave her said slip tell her that the application is due on the 19th of May. I started filling it out at around 11:30 PM here, and guess what? In the middle of filling out said application, the thing shuts down on me! 8DD So I'm wondering what the hell happened to my browser (lol, I could only use IE to fill out the damn thing), and as I'm glancing around on the application entrance page, I notice on the bottom that it says: "The deadline to submit applications was 5/16/2008. No further applications maybe submitted."

Just my luck, just my luck. I don't really take it seriously, but don't they say that Sagittarius are supposed to be lucky? Either I'm always down on my luck or astrology is just some overrated bullshit. Which, it probably is.  Also, I find that if I am ever lucky, that happens only in the most unfortunate situations (which I get stuck in often).  I'm only lucky in the unluckiest situations.

It's 3:31 AM and I'm Still in the Computer Lab
Pearls Before Swine
[info]corrosivematter
It's 3:31 AM in the morning and I'm still in the computer lab. I just finished correcting my friend's Senior Thesis paper, which was chock full of grammatical errors and awkwardly worded sentences/phrases.  It's mad difficult to revise someone else's paper when they want you to correct it in such a manner that you're writing on the same level that they write and so that the meaning of the sentences aren't changed.  Constant frustrations between the two of us, blah, but I'm glad it's done and over with.  What had me going nuts before what the she DIDN'T have a real, defined thesis statement-- I mean, you can't write a friggin' Thesis without the thesis statement; I can't believe she didn't learn that in high school (and she's four years or so older than me)!  Anyways, so we finally came up with a real thesis statement and heavily butchered and rewrote her first paragraph.  I think her writing skills have improved tenfold from me's espraining, whoo-hoo!  Though....because of that draining espraining, I'm suffering from brainfarts, experiencing delusions, constantly spazzing out, and many headdesking! 8D

She owes me a meal after this.

In other news, I think I've found my next idea for a haircut/hairstyle, that is, once my hair grows out.  Pic of that later.  Also, I'm in need of more LJ icons since I'm getting kind of sick of the default icon that I constantly use.
